Dining Room: China Closet

Dining Room: China Closet

In order to make this room mesh with the colors throughout the house, we primed and painted the wallpaper below the chair rail. It is now the same color as our kitchen walls. Much nicer! We also switched out the globes on our light fixture for some black shades to coordinate with the newly covered cornice boards. Love that toile- it really makes the room "pop."

Dining Room: Table

Dining Room: Table

You can see a better view of the overall "look" of the room here. We purchased one new piece of art (birds, of course) with a gift card and it faux-hangs from a glass knob that was originally from my great-grandmother's house. In reality, the picture is hung on a picture hanger, but the ribbons hanging from the knob give it the illusion that it is indeed hanging from it instead.

Kitchen: Cabinets

Kitchen: Cabinets

We primed and painted these cabinets last year and I removed tons of hideous wallpaper from this room. What a project! I recently hung the three transferware plates you see above the upper cabinets. The room has a much more peaceful look than before, that's for sure!

Kitchen: Children's Table

Kitchen: Children's Table

This little table and chairs were mine as a child, but were loaned out to my cousin (who really liked to use markers). When I got them back, they were covered! I recently used some black paint to shine them up and sewed a little tablecloth from some black gingham I had in my stash. Now my boys have their own little bistro next to the refrigerator. :o)

Kitchen: Sink

Kitchen: Sink

More toile! I sewed a simple topper for this window. To hold my kitchen tools, I recycled this old urn by (again) painting it black. On the sill sit 3 of my favorite pictures in the world (2 of my boys and 1 of my mom from her 3rd or 4th birthday).

Living Room: Bench and Desk

Living Room: Bench and Desk

To make this room go together, I used a lot of black paint! We got this bench free from our neighbors' curb (yep, we are closet dumpster divers!) and sanded it and painted it. It looks gorgeous now! We also painted the desk- love it, love it!

Living Room: Family Tree and Sofa

Living Room: Family Tree and Sofa

We love family! Last year, I collected wedding pictures from our parents and grandparents and we took them to Walgreens to have made black and white. Now they hang on the wall behind our sofa.

Living Room: Our Mantel

Living Room: Our Mantel

The chair sitting beside the fireplace was my grandmother's and Mr. Wilt and I fanagled a slipcover for it using some neutral fabric I had tucked away, a staple gun, and a lot of prayer! :o) I made the "Welcome" paper garland to add a wee bit of color to the mantel.

Living Room: Piano Wall

Living Room: Piano Wall

I sewed curtains (Woohoo- Joann's 50% off sale!) for this room and I really like the way they look on my piano wall. The boys' pictures flank either side, and I covered 2 lampshades with toile to add a nice touch.

We painted this room a deep burgundy and the beadboard a soft cream a while back. In order to make it more neutral for those viewing our home for sale, I hung a neutral toile curtain and ivory shower curtain. Both were inexpensive and will come with us to our new home.

Upstairs Bath: Vanity

Upstairs Bath: Vanity

In order to give our bathroom a luxurious look, we splurged on a new rug and some towels on sale at Target. The toothbrush holder and soap dispenser were $3 each at Ross. Good deals can really "fluff" your home to propective buyers!
